Badge checker hall 4

Hall 4 is the hall for the logage and the serve out hall for the dinner and breakfast. Check the badges of all the want to enter the hall. If the person has no badge, the person can NOT enter the hall. You are also point of contact of the catering company, if they have questions, or need some help.

Bar crew

The main task of the bar crew is to serve drinks. You will get a price list of all the drinks. Also you need to check the bar stock at the beginning of the shift and check it during the shift. There will be a supervolunteer present to sell the drinking cards, you will not do this yourself.

BlindDEAD desk

The most important task of the blind-dead desk, is to register a dance couple in the system. You will get an “How to” manual to use the system. If you have problems, you can ask the coördinator for help. Also people can ask what color tag they need to have. Every discipline and level has his own color. You will get a list of the color tags. The color tags are for Breitensport and Beginners only. Open/CloseD will have a lottery as one group. So for Open and CloseD you need to registrate only the person and not as a couple. Breitensport as the Open/CloseD class has a classification round at the beginning of the competition.

Cleaning

You’ll make a round through the building if any of the facilities we use need to be cleaned or toilet paper needs to be filled. Also, check the garbage bags if they are full and empty them in that case. Before you start your shift, go to the coordinator to see if there are already some problems.

(de)Construction

You will help with the construction of the ETDS. before you start find Bernadette van Denzel or Marlies de Vries (head volunteers) to get an assigned task

EHBO

This person has an EHBO certificate to help people with medical problems. You are sober during your shift and have a walky talky to communicate with the board.

Floor manager

During the tournament, couples will enter the dance floor, do their dance and leave the floor afterwards, making way for the next group of couples. The floor manager checks if the right couples are in the queue line to enter the floor. The floor manager’s position is at the floor’s entrance.

Before a heat starts, you check the starting number of the waiting couples with the heat lists given to you on a tablet.

– Mark presence of couple.
– Make sure starting number is clearly visible and attached in all four corners.
– If couple is too early, let them make way for others.
– Note that couples will probably not dance every dance in the same heat!
– Note that some couples will stay on the floor because they dance two heats after each other (like last heat slow waltz and first heat of tango).
– You will receive a walkie-talkie to communicate with the tournament office? This way you can report if couples are missing.

Do not get distracted by scenes on the floor or friend couples in your line, because this will increase the chance of overlooking someone, hence causing tournament delays.

Sleeping hall guard

All participants and volunteers received an ID badge. When entering the sleeping hall, this badge must be clearly visible. If not, ask the person to show his/her badge. Be tolerant, if someone wants to enter the hall without a badge but is sweating and in dance- or team clothing, you know he/she belongs to us. Notify him/her on the importance of wearing a badge.

In case of emergency (fire, flood, gas escape etc.):

– Wake up all people in the sleeping hall
– Contact your coördinator
– Local contact, (ACLO sport centrum)

Hero

The most important tasks are to check on other volunteers, judges, and the tournament office, provide them with food and drinks. Also see to it that the tournament and sleeping hall remain tidy (team captains are instructed to urge their participants to clean up their own mess).

When there is no specific task for you to do, please check on the following things:

– Sanitation (toilet paper, leftover stuff in showers and clothing rooms, soap dispensers, garbage)
– Sleeping halls (make sure pathways and emergency exits are not blocked by luggage)

Information and Welcome desk + badge checkers

All participants and volunteers report at this desk when arriving. It is your job to check each person off in the system and give them their badges and merchandise. Participants who already have their badges need to be checked when they want to enter the hall. Be tolerant, if someone wants to enter the hall without a badge but is sweating and in dance- or team clothing, you know he/she belongs to us. Notify him/her on the importance of wearing a badge.

This desk is also the place where visitors can buy their tickets. So you will be handling money. The costs for an entrance ticket are 5 euro per day.

If people have questions, this is the desk to go to. There will be a print out with frequently asked questions that you can consult. If you do not know or you need help, you have access to a Whatsapp group and a walkie-talkie to consult one of the board members.

At the end of your shift, you will inform your follow-ups about their job, just as your predecessors did with you.
